Red Light Therapy -How Long Does It Take To See Results?

Welcome back to my little red light sanctuary for women.

If you've been scrolling through your feed and wondering if those red light gadgets are worth the hype, you're in the right place. Let's break it down.

What’s the Buzz About Red Light Therapy?

First things first, what exactly is red light therapy (RLT)? This non-invasive treatment uses low-level red wavelengths of light to penetrate your skin, reaching the cells and promoting healing. It’s been touted for its benefits in supporting your body to reduce acne, soothe labor pain, chronic pain, menopausal symptoms, and even boosting muscle recovery. I’ve written about 30 articles on red light therapy for women so browse away at your leisure.

How Long Until I See Results?

Okay, I know you’re eager to see those results. Here’s the scoop: the time it takes to notice changes with red light therapy can vary depending on what your goals are, your sex, the device you’re using, output density, if it’s against your skin (compression) or a panel as well as consistency and where you’re using the light.

  • Skin Issues (like acne and wrinkles): You might start seeing improvements within a few weeks as collagen increases. Typically, 4-8 weeks of consistent use (about 3-5 times per week) will give you noticeable changes.

  • Pain and Inflammation: Many users report relief within a few sessions especially for wound healing such as a cesarean incision, but chronic conditions may take a few weeks of regular use to feel significant improvement. But I’m often surprised by how quickly it can work for some women. Last night I was sitting out in the yard reading and the mosquitoes had a ball….my legs…not so much. My body used to react really badly to mosquitoes, now I use my Novaa wrap a couple of times and there’s no swelling and minimal to no itching.

  • Muscle Recovery: Post-exercise soreness can start to diminish within a few sessions, especially if used consistently after workouts.

Remember, patience is key. This isn’t a one-time miracle fix. Think of it as part of your long-term wellness routine.

Red Light Therapy: Just One Piece of the Wellness Puzzle

Here’s the real talk: red light therapy is amazing, but it’s only one piece of the wellness puzzle. For the best results, you need to pair it with healthy lifestyle choices. Let’s break down some essential tips:

1. Eliminate Sugar and Ultra-Processed Foods

I know, I know. Those sugary treats and convenience foods are hard to resist. But cutting them out can reduce inflammation and improve your overall health, making it easier for your body to heal and regenerate more quickly.

2. Get Moving

Exercise is a powerhouse for wellness. Whether it’s a daily walk, a yoga session, or hitting the gym, regular physical activity boosts circulation, aids in detoxification, and complements the healing effects of red light therapy.

3. Embrace Cold/Heat Therapy

Alternating between cold and heat treatments can further enhance recovery and reduce inflammation. Think hot baths, saunas, or even a quick dip in a cold pool. Your body will thank you!

4. Stay Consistent

This might be the most crucial tip. Consistency is everything. Whether it’s your red light therapy sessions, your diet, or your exercise routine, sticking with it is what brings results. Make a schedule, set reminders, and stay committed to your wellness journey.

Red light therapy can be a game-changer for your wellness routine, but it works best when paired with a holistic approach to health. By making mindful lifestyle choices and staying consistent, you’ll be feeling fabulous in no time.
