Low AMH and Over 36? Sunlight may help
The Surprising AMH Study You’ve Never Heard Of…
If you're over 30 and trying to conceive, you’ve likely heard of AMH, the hormone that offers a sneak peek into your ovarian reserve.
But what if I told you that your AMH might actually rise with the right amount of sunlight? Before you invest in fertility treatments - maybe a trip to Hawaii might be worth considering.
A recent study out of Israel followed over 2,200 women for four years and found that those aged 30 to 40 had higher AMH levels during spring and fall, times when the sunlight is moderate.
Not only that, but women aged 36 to 40, yes, the declining egg reserve group we hear so much about, showed the biggest AMH improvement with moderate UV exposure.
Now here’s where it gets interesting. The researchers noted that vitamin D wasn’t the only factor (caused by UV light), which means something else is happening when light hits your skin. They even referenced animal studies showing that UV light activates the brain and hormone pathways through the skin.
Sunlight and fertility
You know what else does that?
Therapeutic laser therapy (panels don’t generate the same light intensity) or reach your reproductive organs.
It’s completely safe, non-damaging, and clinically shown to boost mitochondrial function and fertility markers.
So if you’re using fertility supplements, focusing on diet, and still feeling like you’re missing something, photobiomodulation might be the gentle, science-backed nudge your body needs or just get out and get some sunshine (if you’re lucky enough to live in a country where regular sunshine is accessible).
